Pre-Jury 2

Hi! About my design, my strategy is without replacing of destination, change the orientation of people. Throughout this strategy I created spaces which are related each other. These relations sometimes physical, sometimes visual. Also there is this relation at my transparency walls. They create both physical and visual continuity this means that there are both physical and visual relation.

I drew a figurative scheme about my strategy. Circular elements show the spaces, lines show the relations between spaces.

Here is my model of design.

Jury said that experiences which you observed very rich, also it is very much, you should simplify your design. I removed some parts of model and I developed my spaces after   pre-jury 2. Here is my drawings.

Prejury 1

My strategy was “orientation of different experiences”. I created different experiences on my path and at the and of path, I created an artificial hill about 15 meter long. Also there were spaces which include different experiences on my path. Jury said that about my artificial hill, it is very high and very harsh to climb. Also it’s slope is very much for human and this hill dominate all project so hill marginalize other spaces. Also these spaces which is on my path are not related between each other also and hill.

Also I used elements which had different colors to determine experiences and jury comment that why do you used different colors, they do not show any changes.

My spaces where are at on my path are located according to my axis. First axis continue to north and it break it continue the west as second axis and the last there was a axis which is parallel to first axis for visibility.

My spaces on the path orient the people from one to another and these spaces include the my experiences which observe at Göreme. I grafted my experiences the on spaces which are on the path. Jury said that these experiences are not refer each other, it looks like funfair. These are my experiences;

Also I designed my artificial hill with 3 different experiences all I added shade shadow conditions also to sit and walk places which have different sizes for human’s scale.

Also jury ask that “What was the aim of it? , what is served us?, We must always think about reason what is here, why is here and what serve us?”. I think that I should pay attention the scale of human’s, also the relations of my spaces which are on the path. My strategy was the acceptable for my aim, because I wanted to orient people and get horizon line on landscape. Also when people walk on my path they could observe different experiences which I graft from at Göreme. So My strategy is orientation of different experiences.

Here is my drawings which are section and plan also diagrams.fullsizerender-10fullsizerender-9fullsizerender-8

Finding Strategy Process

We studied analyzes where at Salt Lake and Göreme. We created a catalog which is contained our experiences at our trip. After these analyzes we thought on strategy for our project because o that we observed lack things in Salt Lake and to provide experiences we drawn sketches. I drawn about orientation, visibility, light air conditions and boundaries.

About Poetically Man Dwells

This week we read a little part of book which is “Poetry, Language, Thought”. The author this book is Martin Heidegger. The name of little part is “Poetically Man Dwells”. Martin Heidegger (26 September 1889 – 26 May 1976) was a German Philosopher and foremost thinker about tradition and philosophy. His first and best known book, Being and Time(1927) , is one of the central philosophical works of the 20th century. The concepts which are non-philosophical, are carried by him. Also some words which are anxiety, boredom, curiosity, fear, death are related to philosophy thanks to him.

In this article, he wanted to describe what is the relation about poet and dwelling also quote from Friedrich Hölderlin. The major center is the exposition of the phrase “poetically man dwells”. He want to comment of this mysterious phrase. According to Heidegger, poetic dwelling is more deeper than common living in an flat. Also he think that dwelling conditions do not mean that occupy house and nor flight into dreamland in other words unreal play of poetic imagination. He mention that language speaks and about this subject he write about merits,”on this earth” and thinking.

“The merits refer to human dwelling on Earth.” Heidegger determine two sort of building as nurturing and caring. For both of these building, a man is full of merit. These two kinds of building are result of essence of dwelling. According to him building and dwelling has a necessary relation between each other. He says about that “man is capable of dwelling only if he has already built, is building, and remains disposed to build, in another way.”

Furthermore he mention about poetic measuring. The poetic measuring symbolize a central theme of the text. Man stays on earth between it and the sky. He also keep between his own basis as mortal and the immortals.

The -ish

We studied on the information which we catch in Zelve and Uchisar. We make our catalog of spatial relations and our experiences. After that with the using the partial relations and architectural keyword we made a model. Firstly I made a model through the transition of spaces also I use the object as a multi-functional. As an example stairs has 3 features for me (in my model)

  1. Orientation of human behaviors
  2. Access the entrance
  3. Relate with nature and spaces ( as transition  part)

Also the size of openings determine the view of human according to human scale and some opening prevent the entrance but they provide flow of air or light. Here is my first model.

After that we revised our model, in this time I provide the my spatial relation. My spaces relate each other on different levels. Also I changed my thinking, I care the view of human’s and air light conditions. I show the these conditions of air, light and view at different shapes. Here is my sketches about my second model.

Here is my second model

Topography

Topograpy is one of the most important element of architecture.  Topography can determine the shape, features, height of the structure because topograpy affect the height difference. The structure should accord the place which is in. Also building have to interact the place and nature because nature and environment affect the plan of the building. Here is my model. I think about that if the museum is placed on flat place or sloply place. Furthermore in different way, if the sloply building on the flat way or sloply way, what would be ?

Here is my diagram.

Erimtan Museum

We went to Erimtan Musem to observing our bodily experiences. We examine the horizontal surfaces and how people move on these horizontal surfaces. What do people when climb the stairs, sitting, walking, wandering in museum? Throughout way of this questions, we investigate the museum all floors. We define the zone which are rush-hour, less intense etc..

Our first model is an abstract model of Erimtan Museum. We use the information of our bodily experiences and represent these experiences with height.

Our stairs model. Position of landing provide people to whole view of the floor.

We abstract the movement of people.

Flatland

This week, we read a book which is Flatland; a romance of many dimensions.

What does book tell? While I am reading this book, I feel that I live in the world of dimensions. Dimensions are fighting each other.

In uni dimensional universe, there are points and lines which are occurred by points. In 2 dimensions universe, there is a hierarchical system and the grade of people increase gradually. Also there is no equality between man and woman. I think it is very irritating activation. In 3 dimensions universe, it is our universe. All things which is light, high, height and view are same our universe. Furthermore the human have a lot of habits and classic lifestyle but the human meet a different universe, they can be offensive. I think this situation show us, we cannot change the people who do not accept without their opinion.

To sum up, although the dimensions (people) are fighting each other, actually they are always connected and have a relation between them.
