What If ?

We had one question that is about skecth and design problems. My question was ;

“WHAT IF PETER EISENMANN DESIGNED THE GROPIUS HOUSE?”

Firstly, I searched about Gropius House’s design and structure. The architect of Grupius House is Walter Gropius also is founder of Bauhaus. Gropius House has certain angles and is like prism. The house is modern but the architect wanted to represent traditional architectural principles some areas of house. Also house is prefabricated and mass-produced. It is a modernist aesthetic approach. In house, Corbusian glass blocks were used. Furthermore house has open spatial organization and large windows. Minimalist color palette was used.

  • Ribbons Window
  • Glass Block
  • Sense of Stability
  • Acoustical Plaster
  • Chrome Banisters

Secondly I had some research about Peter Eisenmann and also his projects. They are very interesting. He is known a representative of DECONSTRUCTIVISM, although he did not want to it. Also his style is very amazing, his drawings are in chaos, there are only just 90 degree angle. In his projects, I observed that ;

  • Changing height measurements
  • Texture Changings
  • Slopy Places

    WHAT IF??????????????????????

Hello from the New Semester

New semester began intensively. Firstly we had a new assignment is that present an annotated bibliography from the research you have conducted on the topic of a “house”. I did some research about both annoted bibliography and house. I found a online book which is Artistic Homes is written by Herbert C. Chievers from the internet and I wrote about this book.

Chivers, Herbert C., Artistic homes, 1905

Herbert C. Chivers’s book offers that knowledge is power and knowledge of what constitutes good plans, design and construction and a favorable whole in a house. A wish for a home of your own is one of the best evidences of your individual ambitions, your wish tranquility, ease and bliss to build a home like his neighbors or his friends. Being up to date is importing thing building house. It has certainly occurred to you in viewing the residence streets of various cities and towns as extraordinary truth that that plurality of houses have a uniformity, are completely shorn of artistic beauty and external suitability.

The planning of a house, where pricey supplies and workforce are taken into accounts, should not be left to unskilled hands. A poorly planned house is usually more expensive than a modern practical plan.
